| As you, my reader may know, I live
in Minnesota, and in the election it was blue. For clarity the republican
states are red. Appropriate color for them as blue is an appropriate color
for us.
Why is blue appropriate for Minnesota, because it is the state of the state. Wednesday was a somber day for Minnesotans, for those that didn't stay up to the end. I did stay up and it almost cost me greatly because I hadn't slept since getting home from work Monday morning. The depression that set in actually made me physically ill. I thought about calling 911 it was that bad. Probably exhaustion from being up for so long. And chatting into the morning hours online with friends, and walking in the rain to the polls was not good either, but who cares. I made it to the polls and that was what counted. I use metaphors much too often to make a point. The point here is, we are blue, and in this case it is so much more than just a color. I had talked to a little old lady, she said that Minnesota should secede from the rest of the union. Yes, a little old lady, more than likely in her late 60's, but let it be said, very, very, bright. The mood was like that, and the republicans I have known have been a no show. But that is Minnesota nice, leave it to them not to rub it in. Others, well I can not say that has been the case. In the on-line world of anonymity you can be just as rude as you want to be. And believe me, they have been, gloating like you wouldn't believe. I played it safe with my vote as a maybe. Kerry may not have gone to war with assumed enemy's. Where as Bush will dig up anything to do it. Or so it seems. I have no faith in our government to make the right humane choices. Is it cowardice? No it is more brave than anyone gives the idea credit. Right now I am listening to Korean Pop, also known as Kpop. Also on my screen is a picture of a young female Korean artist. And my thought is, why did we vote to try to kill her? Irrational thought right now, but George Bush went into a war that for all purposes was unjust. Surely as Kerry had said, the ousting of Saddam was necessary. At best, yes, timely? I say no. Saddam was at no time a threat to our shores. Powell said so, and so did Rice. Who do you believe? But in not believing the republicans president ( he isn't mine ) I believe he has the capability to do anything. Further war in other lands, even now with Iraq being a mess yet, it just isn't out of the question. The war in Iraq is perceptive, and has been given many.
The later may be more accurate. "I am a war president" or so he said. He also stated that he was a "compassionate conservative". I question that even being possible. But then again, a label is a label, at least in Minnesota conservatives are more central. Blue is an emotion, and many are blue about this election. The concern is the future, our safety is still in peril. "But we are safe" How Bush ever sold any of us on that idea with Osama Bin Laden still as much a threat as ever is beyond me. Fear leads to irrational thinking I guess. Help us George, keep us safe. He could have done much better than that after 9/11 and been more effective in removing the Bin Laden threat. Simply by removing him. It is my same song and dance. I have said that so many times. But it is the grounding point. Osama Bin Laden attacked the US and is still loose. Saddam was long away from ever being a threat and is locked up. Makes little sense. But since 2000 nothing much has.
